FALL PREVENTION TIPS

EXERCISE

The more you sit the worse you get. Find ways to walk and move throughout the day.  Take an extra lap around the grocery store. Ask your doctor for balance and flexibility exercises. Join an exercise class.

POSTURE

Pay attention to your posture. If you sit around like a question ? mark all day; you won’t look like an exclamation point when you stand up!!

HEART DISEASE AND WOMEN

Too many women die each year because they are unaware that heart disease is their Number One killer. Right now, one in three women dies of cardio-vascular disease and 90 percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease in the future.

LATEX ALLERGY

Latex allergy to medical gloves, bandages, waistbands etc. is something we know about. Did you know that there are also food allergies related to being allergic to latex?? Certain foods, including avocado, banana, chestnut, kiwi, and pineapple contain some of the same proteins as latex, which is made from natural rubber.

SMOKING AND ULCERS

The incidence of ulcers in smokers is double that of non-smokers. Studies

show that cigarette smoking can lead to long-term changes in the stomach

lining. While there are medications to heal ulcers, smoking delays the healing.
